Con Jobs

Con Jobs is a fun little personal device I designed with a group. Using an ethnographic approach we interviewed Connor and designed a prototype project for him. The result of several interviews and brainstorm sessions we decided to consider his future, or perhaps his lack of direction.

The project was a receipt printer that was connected to a Raspberry Pi. The device would run a search on and return the 5 most recent job postings for the keyword “political.” The listing were stored on a web app and the pi would retrieve the latest search and print them out on a receipt. It is intended to be fully automated, so the printer would print jobs at random intervals throughout the day.

My role in the project was to conduct the ethnographic interview, and analyze his response and create a cognitive map of Connor. I heavily contributed to the ideation and worked with a partner in programming the Raspberry Pi . picture of project
